Cold, ice, unpleasantness

Tag: Complainingaubrey @ 5:51 pm

It’s really unpleasant in Boston today. Yesterday it snowed a few inches and then proceeded to rain. Today it’s miserably cold, which has the effect of turning all of that wet snow into a sheet of ice, and the bad part is that we’ll need a real thaw before it’s going to go anywhere. Here’s a picture of the bike path that I take to work… not so good for biking today.

Disney

On our recent trip to Florida, Hannah and I went to Disney. My uncle, who works there, was kind enough to give us some free tickets, which was fantastic (thanks, Jack!). I haven’t been there in about ten years, and Hannah had never been, so I got to try to show her around and figure out where I was going at the same time.

Disney

We had a great time. I guess the crowds are about as light as possible since we were there on a Thursday and school is still going on everywhere, so we had almost no lines at all. We were imagining what it would have been like standing in line for an hour on a 95 degree day in the middle of the Summer as we walked right up and got on the rides. Hannah was happy to finally get to meet some of her personal heroes:

Hannah With Dumbo (not me, the elephant)

It was funny going back as an adult, seeing all of the things that I used to find so exciting as a child and how they had changed. Over by the Pirates of the Caribbean, they sell those fake muskets, and there were kids running everywhere with them. I remember begging for one of those things and also having one at home that I must have gotten on some trip there. It was funny to see that they now have bright red caps attached to the end, clearly meant to show people that it’s not a real gun, but sort of spoiling the effect.

I’m happy to report that the animatronic creepiness is still in full swing. We took the obligatory ride on It’s a Small World and had a nice laugh, trying to figure out what all of the countries represented there were and humming things to try to keep the damn song out of our heads. This one was a highlight for us:

Small World Gondolier

If we take a gondola ride in Venice, I’ll have to ask the guy to sing “It’s a Small World” to us. I’ve heard that they love that kind of stuff.

The lines there were so short that we managed to wrap up the standard Magic Kingdom stuff right after lunch and headed over to Epcot, where we found some more Venice.

It’s following us.

Visiting Florida

Tag: Familyaubrey @ 7:03 pm

We just got back from a long trip to Florida that included visiting my family in Orange Park, going to Disney World, and then to Miami. It was a great, relaxing trip, and we had a lot of fun. Hannah’s family came down for a weekend, so we got to show them around and have a nice, big family gathering. Check out all of the good looking people in this picture.
